Geography and Population

Malaysia is a federal constitutional monarchy in Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories and has a total landmass of 329,847 square kilometres separated by the South China Sea into two similarly sized regions, Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo. Land borders are shared with Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei, and maritime borders exist with Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The population of Malaysia reaches 30 million in 2014 and it is built up of Malays(57%), Chinese (24%), Indian, Iban, Kadazan and other races.

The weather is pleasant, warm and balmy with moderate rain throughout the year.

The cost of living in Malaysia is one of the lowest in Asia and will remain far a very long time. This is achieved through the government's efficient monitoring of the economy in ensuring that inflation is kept low at all times and thereby the prices of goods and services. Besides, Malaysia is also having a well-developed financial and banking system. The fixed deposit interest rate is between the range of 2.5% - 3.6% yearly, depending on the current interest rate.

The whole of Malaysia is connected by various infrastructures: North-South Expressway (connecting from Thailand in North to Singapore in South), railway (KTM Komuter, Putra Light Rail Transit, Star Light Rail Transit, Monorail, KLIA Express Rail Link), air and sea transportation system. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport is one of the most advanced airports in Asia.
