Sarawak is one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. Sarawak is the largest state at Malaysia. Sawarak has more than 27 sub-ethnic groups with its own distinct language, culture and lifestyle. In Sarawak, each hectare of the forest types is more than North America. A towering trees have thousands of insects. Sarawak’s cave is the world's largest natural cave with 450 meters wide, 100 meters high. Visitors who get permit are only allowed to enter with the accompany of specific guide.


Population and Area

Sawarak has more than 27 sub-ethnic groups with its own distinct language, culture and lifestyle. Sarawak's indigenous people accounted for 75.5% (Bumiputra) which included: Dayak ,Iban, Bidayu,Kenya, Punan, Mindanau, Kadayan, Kayan, Malanau, Kelabit, Murut and Bisaya. Previously, the Ibans are reputed to be the most formidable headhunters on the island of Borneo. Meanwhile, local Chinese accounted for 25.2%. More of them are immigration from Southern China. Among them, the population of Minqing’s people are the number one in the list. Meanwhile, Hakka people will be the second population in the list, followed by Hokkien, Chaozhou, Guangdong and Hainanese. Malays population are around 22.4%. Sarawak area is 124,450 sq kilometers.

Mixing the ingredients such as flour, water and sugar until it be a big ball shape, then divided into a small part, followed by pressed it by wood. Put in some sesame seeds onto the cake once completed the previous step. The local people will put some water onto the cake before put it into the stove. Baking for 10 to 15 minutes. After the final out, to form a delicious pie. The great time to eat the bake cake is the time to take it out from stove.

Tourist Attractions

1. Kuching
Kuching is the administrative capital for Sarawak. Sarawak River which about 32km from the ocean is flowing through the Kuching. Kuching being influent by Western culture, because Sarawak been ruled by the Brooke dynasty ruled Sarawak for a hundred years. You can explore the rich historical heritage of Sarawak by visit Kuching. Among the attractive place, you can visit the set the Borneo Sarawak Museum, humanities and archaeological artifacts. Other attractive places are included Margaret Lieda Fort, Sarawak Court Buildings, Sarawak Islamic Museum, Timber Museum, Chinese History Museum and the Cat Museum.

2. Bako National Park
Bako National Park located 37km from Kuching. This park is full of biological field and being the great place for nature lovers to explore the wonderful of flora and fauna. The park has 26 square kilometers, there are a lot of sandstone cliffs, pristine beaches and also the flora and fauna. The park is rich with an abundance of flora and fauna with at least seven major types of vegetation typical of Sarawak.

This park is the home for proboscis monkey, it is the specialty of Borneo. This kind of monkey is found only at this park. A system of 16 colour-coded walking trails offers full day jungle hikes to gentle strolls. The nearest beach is suitable for swimming . You may enjoy the beautiful sunset.

3. Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre
Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre is situated at 32km south form the Kuching with half and hour drive from Kuching. Semenggoh was built in 1975 from the original forest. It was an orangutan conservation center. Tourist activities are included: visiting Borneo Gibbons, proboscis monkeys, elephants, ostriches, deer hornbill, rhinoceros, leopard and so on. The feeding time is 10 am and 2.30pm.

4. Santubong Fishing Village
This fishing village is situated 35km from the capital Kuching which is the most beautiful beach location. Santubong is famous of its blue color of the sea with facing the South China Sea, the back corner of the dense mountain jungle. It become the top leisure areas. There are a lot of popular Hindu and Buddhist monuments are being found at the estuary of Santubong.

5. Teluk Bandung
A lot of facilities are available at Teluk Bandung, make your holiday full of fun and excitement. The facilities are included water skiing, surfing, boating, diving raft and fishing and so on.

6. Pulau Satang
It is under undeveloped, with the fine white sandy beaches, dense jungles and crystal clear water, is indeed to those who desire the best place for leisure. The island is a protected area, a lot of species wildlife are growing here. Visitors are get chance to explore the wonderful of the natural.

7. Sarawak Cultural Village
Sarawak Cultural Village that is well-known as "live museum" of Sarawak. Visitors are able to know more about the Sarawak’s culture though this cultural village. This cultural village center surrounded by landscaped artificial lakes. Seven customs houses are located beside the lake, presenting the origin of the artifacts such as fine arts and crafts and sculpture.

8.Niah Caves National Park
Niah national Park are famous for Niah Caves and cave paintings, where the bird's nest and the piece of ancient murals. Large cave is the most representative for the park. The cave has a length of 250 meters of large cracks. The locals will hanging the stick and ladder which the tools to obtain the bird's nest on the ceiling in the cave. The bird’s nest collection season are May, June and October every year. There are also "businessmen caves", which the bird nest’s worker stay in the cave. The cave still preserved the wooden building over than 100 years ago. In the preserved cave, there have a lot of ancient murals paintings with the 1,000 years ago. Meanwhile, there have ancient coffins inside the cave. Visitors need to have a tour guide accompany if they eager to see the ancient coffins.

9. Sibu
Sibu is the second largest city in Sarawak, which is located in the Rajang River, is a vibrant port city. Most of the Minqing people stay at this city. The characterized of Sibu are the churches, which the number of churches are more than mosques and Buddhist temples. It's criss-crossing city roads, traffic is congested. There are many restaurant and shopping malls located at the middle of the city’s road from High Street to Market Road. The market is open 24 hours.Sibu's main attractive place are the seven storey Pagoda Temple, the Garden and Bukit Aup Jubilee Park. There have programme at Sibu to visit Iban Longhouse. Visitors are able to visit them through the arrangement from travel agent . Visitors can ride the "Clippers" go to Iban Longhouse. Sibu city has many cafes, which the food is very cheap. Most of the menu have Malay and Chinese version. There are many hotel at Sibu which mostly operated by Chinese.


Transportation

•Flight
Sarawak stretches for over 750km along the north east coastline of Borneo, bordered by Sabah, Brunei and Indonesia's Kalimantan. The main airlines are MAS, Dragonair Airlines and Air Asia. International Airport is located at Kuching. Meanwhile, domestic airport are located at Sibu and Miri. Some of the rural areas in northern Sarawak are very dangerous and no good road connections due to its terrain. Many areas are definitely cant contact with outsider, it seem tantamount to isolation. Thus, many small airports are at this areas to provided the propeller aircraft service. There have three flights option to Sarawak which consists of transfer flights at Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Singapore.
